Wire compressor to 240V?

I have a Speedaire 4B234 its currently wire to 120V but keep flipping the breaker and I have a 240V in the garage so I want to wire it to that. I have 2 blue wires, 2 red wire, and 2 green wires but the green wires are hooked together. One blue wire goes to Line and the other to Motor and same thing with the red wires. Thank you everyone for your replys. After opening up the case on my motor there was a small diagram for low voltage and high voltage switched some wires around and put a new plug on the end and I am running it at 240V now! THANKS!

The wiring diagram to change the voltage between 120v and 240v should be on the electrical junction access plate. Most compressors of this nature come prewired for 240v and must be converted to 120v in the field.

The circuit going to the compressor must be rated at a minimum of 125% of the motor power rating (HP) as listing in Table 430.248 of the NEC . While the motor plate lists ratings of 15 amps for a 120v circuit or 7.5 amps for a 240v circuit, these are NOT the amperage ratings you need to use according to code. For a 2 HP motor, the listed currents are 24 amps at a voltage of 110v to 120v or 12 amps for 220v to 240v. Therefore, your minimum circuit size is 30 amps at 120v or 15 amps at 240v.
